I took Stefan up on his little sale.

Now I've got to find the right 240mm gyuto so we can have a mating.

That's an absolute stunner! I can easily picture a nice Shigefusa 240mm old stock cladded kasumi blade in that handle :D

i'm not sure if they are necessarily cracks, but i agree that it looks sweet.
 
Looks like "inkline spalted maple" Stabilized I would assume. Got a bunch of that stuff coming. :)

WOW. Miz 270 Akitada Hontanren? Love that knife... and now you've made me want to dress it up... sigh... how heavy is the new handle? I love the balance of mine, and can't imagine messing that up...
 
Good eye, Pierre. At least it didn't have any cracks when I sent it out ;) The other one is Honduran rosewood burl, I think the tip was spalted maple burl.
