I forgot to ask. Does it give any indication of which series this is from? It's Western handled, with black pakka wood (I think), if that helps.

Generally speaking, yes. But so does every other Western damascus, to my eye. I have not heard much about Hattori, here, but JCK seems to hold him in very high regard (unless that just marketing). This is the whole knife, if it helps. The handle is similar to the photo of the HD suji, but less rounded. I suppose that could have changed over time, or varied from knife to knife.
