    Looking for a 9" slicer

I'm looking for a great knife for slicing brisket. One BBQ competitor that I know suggested a Shun Classic 9" slicer. I'm sure it's a wonderful knife, but can anyone suggest a cheaper alternative?

9" seems a little short to me. Why that length?

The key is making one clean heal to tip stroke per each slice - no sawing action allowed.

I'm not set on 9", but that was the length that was recommended to me.

A terrific slicer: the carbon Fujiwara FKH 270 or 240mm, around $70. Thin, relatively stiff, takes a great edge, very easy sharpening. Have the larger one, don't worry about its size, you will be fine.

Go big! You won't regret it.

Old Hickory's slicers are popular with barbeque folks in these parts.

    What's your budget?

    Darn right!

Get the 10 inch or better yet the 14 inch...you can't go wrong for less than $20.00
