Knives have seen very light home use on end grain boards. Never thinned. These are older purchases that have not been in the rotation for a while. Original boxes included.

Would prefer to sell outright but might be interested (+ or -) in a 240 gyuto, a stainless 120-150 petty, or...

Murray Carter Funayuki 170mm - Carter wafer thin and feathery to the tip - well what use to be the tip. Missing about 5mm.

Me (from the other room): "Wife, please be careful with that knife. No lateral force, Ok?"

Wife (from kitchen): "What is lateral force? The stupid tip just broke off this knife when I was wiggling it into this hard cheese."

Me (approaching kitchen) "##!! *!* #!!"

Was going to fix it but boxed it up and never got around to it.

Murray actually has a Youtube of him making this particular knife as a forging speed record. Knife is stamped as such.

$290 + $15 USPS Priority shipping.

Takeda Banno Bunka AS 170mm - Typical Takeda performance cross-section and his nice handle which is sealed at the choil. The kurouchi finish was weak from the git.

$230 + 15 USPS Priority shipping.

Thank you for looking, feel free to ask any questions.
More pics as needed. :)

If I hand't just dropped my current knife budget on a 240, I would so go for that Takeda. Handled one in the store on the weekend and it is a very nice knife. GLWS.

Thanks. :)

They are nice but realized we were just not grabbing for the 170-ish size (other than a nakiri) when making dinner.

RE: Carter

Current measured cutting edge is 170mm and doesn't look like you would lose any of that...

Few tutorials:

Looks like a fairly easy repair if you have a sidewalk, cinder block, or flattening stone nearby.

Here is Murray making the knife.

"Commemorative" :wink:

I think I cried a little seeing this post and that tip

Carter now $260 + shipping.

Thanks for looking!

Oh man that wife and knife meets cheese story is a classic

I started sweating a little reading that.

Oh well, your heartache will be someone else's gain GLWS

Carter is now $260 SHIPPED. Beyond that, I will put it in the project queue and repair as time allows...

Did I mention it was thin, like Carter thin? :pirate1:

Carter is pending.

Thanks to all interested parties, buyers, KKF, and to Dave for the venue.

She took a pretty big chunk of the tip, what "inspired" you to let her have a go at your brand new murray, lol. My wife doesn't touch any of my knives = happy knives
