Suddenly wanna ask about who can forge blue1 steel or aogami super steel mizu honyaki gyuto and still can show the hamono line visual and clearly.

If I recall correctly, blue1 or aogami super hamon lines are always fainter when compared to white steel. Not sure why (not a knife maker) but my Mizuno Tanrenjo Akitada Honyaki has a pretty distinctive hamon even tho it's blue steel.

Both of those steels are deep hardening alloy carbon steel, requiring slower quenchant than water to get most out of their potential , if you are looking for hamon they won't have it as nice compared to simpler steels ( although polishing techniques play major part too )

Another fun fact, Honyaki lovers: if you lazily wipe it and put it away unoiled for month in humid climate you will have a brown Honyaki

Actually thinking functional and beauty together. Really enjoy a mizu honyaki blue 1 steel forged by shiraki. But it’s not mirror polish. So hamono isn’t show. And curious about the blue1 steel or AS steel mizu honyaki hamono question. This moment quite enjoy super hard carbon steel cutting and sharpening experience.

Best kind of honyaki there is. A similar feeling to when your wife soaks the cast irons after cooking to help get the stuck on bits off without you realizing and you wake up the next morning to find a nice even brown surface.

Ouch, that makes me sad Fencer.

Also nice when your roommates girlfriend kindly scrubs your cast iron with steel wool. You get some of that nasty black stuff removed.
