Which lenght do you prefer?
Can a Nakiri get to long - so a cleaver would be a better option?

Thanks

Rick,

Which ones are you using - brand?

Thanks

I've used both 16.5 and 18 cm nakiris, and prefer the 18 cm.

Cleavers are an entirely different knife and techinique and aren't remotely comparable.
+1. I haven't found a 180 I love. I would ideally go for a Yoshihiro SKD with a little more length.

I use a Carter KU 180 nakiri, so tickled with it that I have yet to settle on another one. But there are a few I'd like to get ahold of, Takeda (always), Fujiwara, to name a few...

I find both the 165 and 180 feel good. If I want longer for whatever reason, I'll pick up a gyuto or cleaver.
