    Forum Decorum

I am new to this forum and relatively new to the world of forums in general. I've enjoyed my experience thus far, but have a couple of questions about what is appropriate to post.

I have a BBQ blog that I work very hard to network. I've posted a couple of threads with links to the blog already. However, it's not my intention to bombard the users of this forum with links.

Is it considered inappropriate for me to link to weekly recipes or giveaways?

Should these types of posts be submitted only in the "Off Topic" forum?

    Would love some feedback....Thanks

That kind of stuff is reserved for vendors.

    Hi Derek,
First off let me say thanks for taking the time to check in with us about this, I personally appreciate this a lot.

We're trying our best to keep this site as commercial free as possible and since we have many vendors and possible potential vendors posting here this isn;t an easy task to accomplish. We're constantly having to come up with rules and tweak the system to allow business to take place without just blowing out the site with commercialism. It's a super fine line to walk and the one thing that makes running this site the most difficult for me personally.

So with that said, posting links like you're talking about is not something that we allow. An occasional post for a giveaway or something worthwhile to the members to check out is OK with us but any regular scheduled type posting like this is considered by many as spamming and not welcome on many if any forums.

Had you been seeking to sell something through these links then the answer to your question would be a flat out no as we don't allow this.

Again, I appreciate you taking the time to ask what the proper way of doing things is and allowing me the opportunity to answer before it becomes a problem.

    Thanks,
    Dave

Thanks for the feedback. I definitely don't want to wear out my welcome. I'll limit my blog related posting to notices of noteworthy product giveways.

How about noteworthy knife mentions! We do love some good BBQ foodporn here and any stuff where knives are being used properly(or severely improperly, lol).

I'll do my best. I need to get a decent knife first.

You've come to the right place. Welcome!
Now...take out your wallet, look at it squarely, and say: "I'm sorry for what I'm about to put you through."

Ohhhhhh yeah. Wish I'd actually believed that before stepping in. Mmm... or not. Only the responsible side of me wishes it
