This is a very commonly asked question - how I make my handles, so I decided to take pictures to show it. It takes me about 6 hours to make a handle from start to finish.

I will post more pictures when I start shaping it.

PS: The tenon is oval in shape, not round.

Cool. The tenon seems like it would be tricky to match up...

I'd like to see of vid of how you do that stuff.

Anybody notice the bud buster in the back ground?

HIGH tolerance you say!

No, actually I don't see it. Can you be more explicit? Maybe crop the pic to emphasize your perception?

Sorry, I forgot Americans are uptight about cannabis.

Also sorry for getting off topic!

I still don't see it.
And I have no problem with the killer weed from hell, as the DEA refers to it!
Anyway, it looks more like coke to me.

I'd be interested in some details on how you fabricate the rectangular mortise for the tang.

Nope, no coke. Satanite! Fresh from Hell. The coffee grinder is to grind it even finer, so it's easier to snort.

Handle - Lignum Vitae, Horn, Nickel Silver Spacer
Saya - Select Grade Poplar
Pin - Lignum Vitae
275mm sujihiki (on the edge)

Thank Mark.
One thing about Lignum Vitae is that in a few months time, it will turn green and the handle and pin will match the saya.

I mistakenly got some once from a wood turner's estate.
It was a log chunk labeled ironwood but felt like it was coated with soap.
I kept a few small pieces to play with later.
The pieces I cut turned a dark blue green after a while.

Looks really sweet, Marko. That must be very dense wood. I'm surprised the balance is so close to the handle. Is it a 285mm?

It's 275mm on the edge, so about 290mm tip to handle, but it is a thin knife.
I will weigh it tomorrow.
