This is an idea that has been in the works for a while now. I am doing some petties in the 130-210 range. Have a few that will be ready by the weekend, and will be available on my website.

Here is the one i did for the Bladeforums christmas KITH. The ones i have upcoming will have a few in mono steel and also a few in damascus :)

Thanks for looking
Mike

Nice work Mike.

IMHO, just a perfect profile for a petty in those lengths...

Thanks! I have a few in mono steel, a few in damascus, and maybe a really thick one in a san mai...Still working the thoughts on that one, as the san mai is pretty thick(1/4" i think). I have one of these in my kitchen i have been using everyday for almost a year...takes a wicked edge and cuts forever.

Ok so i have a few blades done, but cannot decide what wood to us to go with them....Any suggestions? Pics are down below.
Ok, First one is a 150mm made from Deker's Basketweave pattern.

Second one is a 180mm made from Delbert's Lizard pattern

What do you guys think?

Top row 4th from the left

It mimics the blade finish perfectly

Hmm, redwood pin wood Burl on the bottom for the lizard
And maple Burl top row third column for the other.

These profiles look great, Mike. What else can you tell us about these blades? I'm afraid I won't be much use on the handle materials though, lol. What's the long block on the right and what color is it?

Ok here we go. The 180 is Delberts lizard pattern, in O1/L6/Pure Nickel. It is at 2.3 mm at the spine. It has a partial grind to a zero edge. Both should be in the 61rc range. The 150 is made from Deker's basketweave, is 1084/15N20, ground very similar to the first. The long block is Buckeye Burl..It is pretty much gray with black streaks. None of the usual yellows associated with the buckeye.

That lizard damascus is super cool - I never saw that before - Delbert's holding out on us.

The only problem with that stuff is the pure nickel. In my experience, it really doesn't hold up anywhere near as well as steel does.

That lizard damascus is amazing.

I'd love to see a made out of it.

I already have the redwood cut for it lol. The 150 is getting maple burl, copper and blackwood. I have a special "dark" handle in mind for the other 180...I iwll show them off later tonight.

Ok...here are the blades all done.

They look super Mike can't wait to see that lizard in particular!

I like the wood selections quite a bit. I'll be interested to see how the spacers work out.

Love the use of copper accents. Can't wait to see how the antler polishes up. I have some, but was not sure how it would work out.

Very nice sleek profiles. Mmm looking forward to seeing these finished.

Got one finished and sold tonight, other hopefully tomorrow...Been a lot going on with very little shop time these last 2weeks.
