I've just noticed some rust spots on my fujiwara fkh gyuto. Went over to the hardware store to get some rust remover but i noticed that all of them are labeled poison! Probably not a good idea to use on knives.

Does anyone have non-toxic rust removing solutions? I would not mind if it removes the patina.

Surface rust. I'm not too bothered, but it is abit of a eyesore.

try a scotch-brite pad, or pencil eraser, or even your thumbnail.

It shouldn't matter how toxic it is as long as you get all of it off the blade.

Convert it with phosphoric acid (coca-cola) then rub it off with a nylon scrubber.

I like to use a daikon end and a little Barkeeper's friend for this purpose.
