This is a very simple handle - macassar ebony, N/S spacer and blackwood ferrule.

Thanks guys. The cut will slow me down a little bit, but there will be a few more knives finished in the next few days.

Really elegant handle. Hope that your thumb isn't too painful.

My thumb is quite painful- swollen and sore, but I can't take any more time off (coming off a pretty nasty cold), so I will have to work around it. Grinding might be a bit challenging, as I use thumbs extensively and this is my right hand. Not the best timing, that's for sure, but it is what it is.

would a thimble or metal finger guard help?

I have a system to prevent cuts like these, but I was rushing today and skipped it, and paid the price as a result of that. Now I am kicking myself.

Sorry to hear abt the slight accident. Remember that iron/metal filings and wood dust can only make it worse especially if teh wood specie is not friendly to the human body.

    take care..
