When I link to a picture, sometimes the picture shows up in the post, and sometimes just the web address to the picture shows up. I am linking from the same site, the same way, butt getting different results.
Any idea why?

Are you using the "Insert Image" button?
You should compare a link that works to one that fails. Does the link have a "?" in it? Does it end in an unusual code? Sometimes the host appends information to the address that it understands but the forum has problems with.
