Not sure if this is going to be trash or treasure.
Just washed off all the mud. Now it's time to see what is inside.

Looks like trash, better just send it this way to save yourself some time.

I cut it in half on my Boss's saw.
Didn't want to get my saw all dirty.

Color & Figure look good but tons of bug holes.

Not too encouraging, but maybe I can find enough solid area to get a few blocks.

Nope. Too buggy for me. Looks like the worms love this stuff.

The bug holes give the slabs an unusual look that may be good for some other projects.
But not enough solid areas in this piece for me.
You just don't know until you cut it up.
Bummer.

Its like a geode! the crappy ones remind you why the good ones are good

I can't end the day cutting junk so I cut up this piece.
I caught a wood turner offering my boss $50 for it.
I said, "In your dreams, that piece is already spoken for".
Before anyone could say anything I tossed it in my golf cart and drove away with it.

Looking good inside. There was an injured area that caused some coloring in the burl.

Getting a lot of good material from this piece.

Tomorrow I trim these into oversized blocks and put them into the dehumidification kiln to dry.

How dry do they have to be to go to the stabilizer?
