Does anybody do CrossFit here?

I did it for a bit last summer. Crazy workouts. They claim it is for anyone, but you really need a good fitness base before you start.
It works!
...Just make sure you pay attention to performing whatever you do in an ergonomic way without ruining your back...

Starting this week. In principle I like it. The traditional gym bores me to death.

I have for about 8months now. I love it.
Costwise its more expensive than a big-box gym membership, but much less (and I think much better) than a personal trainer. QUOTE]
I can do it in my house and in the yard for free, or at my gym with all the extra equipment; what makes it more expensive than a normal membership? I am guessing you joined a Crossfit gym huh? Only time i've saw it get expensive is if you join a class - they charge like $600 for six weeks! Maybe I am spoiled because I know most of the movements and exercises and prefer working out by myself.

I'm a bit of a technique stickler, especially when it comes to some of the really dynamic and technical moves that are incorporated in crossfit... and even more when I know that I'm going to be performing them in a stressed state during an intense WOD. Unless you video tape yourself from multiple angles, it's very difficult to asses your own technique while you're working out. I've been swimming for 20yrs, but when I attend a coached master's swim class, I still learn / benefit from the coach. Professional athletes have coaches to: technique is something that you can constantly refine and improve.
You sound like you've actually got some experience and know what you're doing, but 90% of the people that I've met that "crossfit" at home, have major technique problems and scale and modify to the point where they're losing the essence of the WOD.
I don't have enough room in my apartment to duplicate a crossfit gym and i dont know many big box gyms that have a decent Olympic / bumper weight set, gymnastic rings, heavy bags, ropes, tires, rowing machines, kettlebells, heavy bags, and enough open space amiss all of the treadmills and ellipticals to actually do all the WODs.
I dislike gyms and big classes, but I really like working out with small groups of friends: I go on group rides and time trials on the bike, run with my dog, and swim across lakes with a tri-club. I know very few people (I'm certainly not one of them) that can self-motivate to train as hard on their own and actually train their WEAKNESS; not strengths as well as they would with some peers and a coach helping them along and providing objective assessment.
Also, I know that each crossfit box is independently owned and operated and prices vary, but I've never heard of anyone charging $100/week. The most that I've payed was ~$130/month - and that was for unlimited sessions. Like I said, a little more than Gold's, but a whole lot less than a PT.
I'm not saying that no one should ever Crossfit at home, I'm just saying that there are some serious benefits (at least at first) to finding a box that you like.
Where are you doing it? If you want a good interval work out for it I have mine when I did it and its a little over kill but if you do it you will have the easiest time with the coarse hahaha!I'm doing a Tough Mudder in 3 weeks! I wish I could afford Crossfit but most of my trainig has been running, interval training, and weights.
