I've had my Thermapen for something like 10 years now, still works fine. Use it all the time for meat and baking. The difference in home use vs. pro use in a busy kitchen, I guess?

Just don't twist the probe sideways too much against the housing, and don't drop it. Treat it like the precision instrument it is. I wouldn't be without one.

Maybe I should pad the stone floor in my kitchen. Thanks for the tip.
Don't drink out of ornamental ponds in Tiergarten. You will get sick.

If you are afraid to break your Thermapen, you can get a rubber cover for it.

    https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Yeah, I know, itís fugly (itís actually luminescent, so it will glow sort of poison green in the dark... tacky), but it works and allows you to drop it without worries.

And the cover has built-in magnets

I have one. Used it for a day. Not my cup of tea.
If I can find it and you want it I will mail it for free.
