my life sux that this is not my knife

One of the nicest examples of the craft that I have seen. Stunning Bill. Well done!

Thank you all. I'll post up all the specs tomorrow.

Holy s$&@. That's one hell of a knive and the handle being solid musk ox, extravagant but sweet!

Gorgeous knife. That musk ox horn is an amazing material, I need to put some on a knife.

Beautiful work, Bill. Starting to think I should work with some of that also...

Bill that is a classy knife, you make something so complicated look clean and effortless, the mark of a true master.
A question if i may, do you have any handy hints for keeping the bolster square and flat for handle fit up.

I think i would upset it flush with a flat slotted bar, like
A tennon shoulder befofe finishing. As I have no Mill.
Also is dragon breath your own development

Wow that looked easy

Kidding aside that's one hell of a knife Bill! I think it might be the best use of your dragons berth yet?

WoW!

Turned out really nice! Im really impressed Bill, you are truly gifted!
Love everything about it. How does she cuts and how does she feel?

For nuts:
Bill is bringing this to Blade in a week, stop by Bills table and talk to him. (and take some pics of Bill and his knives)

Wowsers! I guess your pimped up Victorinoxes has finally gotten some serious competition here, Øivind. :D
As I said earlier abou the blade alone, this is probably the most spectacular kitchen knife I have seen. The blacksmithing and etching of that damascus is true mastery. Well done Bill.

That is an amazing pattern you forged bill:thumbsup:

SHOW OFF!!

I wish that I were going to the show so I could see that one in person.

Great job Bill, what happens when Dan O thinks it's for him?

Wow, thank you everyone for the praise of the knife. I think it is one of the very best I have done.

Hi Will,

When I started forging thid blade the steel was in a block roughly six inches long a inch and a half wide and a half to five eights thick, so all I had to do was draw out the blade and tang and leave the bolster area alone. After forging I just ground/filed it to shape no milling at all. One little trick is to leave the sides of the bolster area flat, or surface grind the flat and parallel so that you can clamp a file guide to them and file the shoulders for a perfect handle fit. A tennon jig or Monkey tool would work.

Yes as far as I know, I am the developer of Dragons breath pattern though not the technique used to get it. I also did another pattern that I call river of fire. Though it is not as dramatic as this one.

Thanks Bill that makes perfect sense:biggrin:

Amazing work Bill.
I finally came home and could view this on my computer. How about some spine shot and the measurements, this monster is huge! :)
