at first glance at the anvil vid's title I was thinking something quite a bit bigger. Great post.
 
Hmm. This is the 4th of July . . . My largest anvil weighs only 4 lbs., and I don't have any black powder, but I suppose I could disassemble a few .223 cartridges, and I have some string . . .
 
Saw the World Championship on TV last year held in a field next to a school someplace down south, IIRC. Probably fewer than 10 participants with maybe a couple hundred or so watching. They factor in height and accuracy, how close the anvil lands to it's launch pad. A teenager -second generation anvil shooter- won by applying physics.
