Here is a bit of a WIP on a little knife I am working on, comments welcome!

Starting materials. Bog oak, mammoth tooth, maple dowell, fiber spacers, and a hunk of black buffalo horn
IMG_0001.jpg

Handle materials assembled, at this point the tang slot is in place, and the dowel is inside the handle, to provide an extra mechanical bond.

Next, removing the surplus on the 36 grit belt.
IMG_0003.jpgIMG_0007.jpg

Squaring the handle.
IMG_0009.jpgIMG_0010.jpg

Setting the bevels.
IMG_0011.jpgIMG_0013.jpg

Next the sanding smooth, and sealing the mammoth and horn.

Next, I made a dummy tang, same size and shape of the one on the knife. To burn in the exact fit.

Test fit.

Now to buff and polish.

Sweet! Thanks for letting us see how to do it right!

I feel like August is International Bog Oak Month......or am I imagining things?

OK, ok. I'll start using my work table properly.

This is really nice. That blue mammoth tooth never ceases to amaze.

Nice work. You just cant go wrong with mammoth tooth on anything.

Here is an early shot from the initial grinding.

Specs.
Blade is O1 @ HRC 61 Hand rubbed finish

Handle as stated consists of 3840 year old bog oak,
white vulcanized fiber and mammoth tooth spacer, buffalo horn ferrule.

I don't have a scale, but this thing is silly light!

Thanks for looking!!

Absolutely amazing, my friend!
Damn, you've got skills!

Yet another beautiful Rodrigue knife. That mammoth tooth is so money.

Forgot to add

153mm on the edge

31 mm high

full distal taper, convex grind

rounded choil and spine

Thanks every body, glad you like this little one. It is a pleasant switch from those 300 mm+ blades.

Fantastic job, Pierre. Very nice grind and nice shot of the choil.

Nice work. You just cant go wrong with mammoth tooth on anything.
yep, that is true, but it's especially great, to my taste, with bog oak or ancient kauri. That knife is stunning !!

Awesome !!! Thanks for letting us see!!! Knife is sexy!!

Just incredibly stunning! A real dream knife, and you know I am partial to blue mammoth tooth.:D
