    in laws house

Was just having breakfast at the in laws, using a crappy old steak knife. Lots of flex, no real weight or balance. Molded plastic handle - looks like 1950s or 1960s style. And then, a familiar maker's mark . . .

A fun find for the day.

yep they made a lot of cheap crappy brightly colored plastic handled steak knives and knife sets in the 60's. Thus the demise of the company. The only knives they ever did right were the OLDE FORGE Forgecraft high carbon chef knives
I haven't lived the life I wanted, just the lives I needed too at the time.

Working on a refurb of one of those high carbons right now actually. Fun project! Only thing is there is a section along the edge maybe an inch down from the tip that I just cannot get truly sharp - it just stays grainy/crumbly feeling. An issue with the metallurgy? Been pretty careful about burr removal so it makes me think it is an issue of the steel, maybe it got over tempered there.

    self thread jack . . . apologies
