L' Art du Coutelier is a book by Jean Jacques Perret in Paris 1771
even thou the book is in French the interesting part is the 70 engraved plates in the book on knife making.

The book is in 3 volumes this the first one and the other two are about surgical instruments .
and if you to take a look at all the engraved plates Google books has it for free.
and Bernard Levine has translated a few chapters on his site .

Well done again, Monsieur Steeley. The really clear illustrations are cool. I imagine you'd love small antique book shops with finds like this.

Thank's Cutty
the small book shop is becoming less and less shame.
I just hope that others are as like me you like history .
by the way PERRET has a whole chapter on Damascus steel and MR . Levine has the translated pages in English on his site.
