Hey guys, first post here.
I recently purchased the Takeda banno bunka and whilst sharpening made some super ugly scratches in the epoxy glob common on his knives. (the "blob" was perfect btw).
Any ideas how to refinish it? I'm scared to put heat or acetone to it till I know for sure.
Thanks!
Patrick

I might suggest micro-mesh sandpaper wrapped around an appropriately-sized dowel (your finger might work). Start fine and work down the grits until the scratches are gone, then work back up to polish. Alternatively, remove the epoxy blob by whatever means necessary, then replace with beeswax.

P.S. I grew up in Hendersonville. Small world!

Just smooth it out with some 320 or 400 grit sandpaper....or you could use a Sharpie :)

Dreamel tool buffer. Is it epoxy he uses? I thought it was knife pitch?

Thank you for the input, I will go get micromesh and a buffer for the dremel today.
Wsfarrell you grew up in good ol hooterville too? What are the chances?! Ever miss the mountains?
Patrick
