I have been searching for years to find a good source for high grade Karelian Birch.
Today a sample package of these blocks showed up in the mail.
One of the forum members here helped me to get this wood from Russia.
I am really excited about this wood and will try to get a lot more of this. These ones are on their way to K&G for stabilizing.
When I get them back they will be more of an amber color. The figure in these will be very 3 dimensional with a lot of random contrasting dark lines. These have much better quality figure than any I have been able to find before.

Yowzer Bowser! Themselves some purty pieces!

I have been resisting your temptations for a long time. But these will sink me. Beautiful.

I am trying to get several dozen more.
I have looked at a lot of Karelian and Masur Birch over the years.
But I've never seen any like this except in photos.
So I knew it existed, just where to find it.

Wow, that's nice wood! Looks almost like golden cork. ;) Would love to see it in wa-form. Could be the first 'custom' wood I'd like as a wa. :pardon:

I think this with a blackwood ferrule would satisfy even the most conservative handle critics.
Just teasing you.

Those look beautiful.....I'll take two please:D
