This one is very special 300mm Yanagi from Yoshiaki Fujiwara

He makes them rarely but look of it and feel is very very good :D
I am very excited to get this one it looks very good much better then i expected.
Ura side is finished paralel like on Shigefusa knives and grind is very very different then on most Yanagis as usual on Kato knives :D , it is also much taler knife

I will make special handle for this one with removable Pin so you can always take handle of. So it will take some time before it will make in to my store.
On the Tang is old writing of date and era of when this knife is made.

I have many more things i got :D But this one is one of the best

In what ways is the grind "very very different" from most yanagiba?

first of all it is much larger grind higher and much more convex then other Yanagis i have seen

Is it unusual for this type of knife to not have a Machi?

This one have machi it is just grind go over it

Well now, look at that!
I hope you bring one or two to the meetup in November.
With that I mean in addition to the one I want

Wow love the tang on that. very cool on the date. Has anyone done that before? I am very interested in how you will do the handle. A very special knife.
