You are paying for the skills of the maker and his reputation also. One fairly mass produced knife versus a limited run small batch maker. Don't get me wrong I am a huge fan of Hiromotos.
 
I had the Hiromoto. very good knife for the money.

+ gets sharp, good balance, looks good.
- not the best F&F with the handle, need a bit of thinning.
