A Big Load of New Wood showed up today

A semi showed up today with several pallets of wood that we will be using for next year's projects.

These are some thick chunks over a foot thick that we will mill into tabletop slabs.

A bunch of stump pieces for table bases.

A bunch of already cut slabs.

I couldn't help myself. I had to open this one.

    Cut through the pallet wrap.

    Lots of good stuff inside.

These have a good start at coloring up with the blues that we want.
Now they will go into the barn to let them darken up a bit more over the winter.

    I forgot to mention before;
This is Buckeye Burl from Central California.
Only a small amount of this will be suitable for handle material.
The majority of it will be used for furniture, clocks, bowls and other stuff for our galleries.
Just looks like dirty wood right now but these guys here can make some beautiful things with this wood.

Most of the buckeye is furniture grade stuff. But that is what they need here.
They make a lot of chairs, benches and tables like these. Buckeye looks bolder and tends to sell faster.
I will probably end up pulling less than 5% of the wood aside but there will be some really good pieces.

I want to come to Oregon to see where you work so bad!
That Tom Skerrit is one lucky guy because he's already been there.
Oh and he got to work with Maverick, Goose AND Iceman on Top Gun.
