A friend is looking for a santoku to start her jKnife collection. stainless is best, but carbon will work. around 180MM. Or maybe a santoku-ish gyuto (guess that would be kiritsuke-tipped).

Budget is $100, maybe a little more if it's something special.

If a Western handle is fine: Hiromoto AS 190mm, new some $110, with JCK.
Still a great introduction to J-knives.

Thanks! Looks like a decent product for the price. Putting it on the list.

Call Jon. I purchased a stainless Western handled santoku for my mother on his recommendation (apparently his own mother uses the same one), which she is very pleased with. I don't remember what I paid for it (and it's not on his website), but I'm sure it was less than $100 (maybe significantly so, I just can't remember). Plus, the JKI santoku will come gift wrapped and with a note!

I have a like new, Shun Classic santoku for $70.

I can make a great deal on a new Misono UX10 7" thats surplus. $135

99Limited, Mitbud: I'll pass along the offers and get back to you.

Don't know if you've found anything yet, but last year EE had some great deals for Black Friday.
