We need a new contest so I can give something away.
Any ideas?
This cold weather makes my brain stop working.
So I am counting on all of you to come up with some sort of brilliant idea for the next contest/give away of something.

What if I finished a natural shape burl slab to be used as a cheese board, trivet, serving platter?
or.....should I just stick with handle material as a prize?
I have a rock I found in the river. It is light colored with dark lines that make a peace sign.
Might be a magic rock?
I was thinking it might be cool, to use small pieces of burl slab ( like you suggest for cheese board) to mount natural stones on.

Cheese board would be cool. Perhaps a pic of your wood used in preparing a big meal, best action shot, or maybe best scantly clad model using your wood? Hehehe
Can opener/ corkscrew with a nice burl handle would be nice.
I say stick to handle or maybe even saya material for the prize.
As for the contest: How about what was your biggest flop either food or knife-related.
I find that I always learn more from my failures than my successes.
How about a story or anecdote about finding culinary inspiration in an unlikely/unusual place or source?
For a prize, how about sets of saya pins using a variety of woods and other materials?

For the comp, how about a "What do you see in the burl?" like those cards where you say what first pops into you head, but with a series of burl scales. We have the brain doctor/ or wood doctor, examine the results, the closest to clinically burl insane wins![]()
