One of the forum members has been helping me to get this wood from Russia. Without his help I would never be able to get this quality of Karelian Birch, so thank you LK.
He is friends with the owners of a knife company over there. They watch for top grade pieces of Karelian Birch, and when they get enough for a package they send it to me. In return I send them some of the stabilized woods they are unable to get in Russia. Works out good for both of us.

A new package showed up today.

This is Karelian Birch. An unusual sort of figured Birch that comes from the Karelian mountains in Russia.
You can't tell from the photos but this wood has very 3 dimensional figure.
When I get it stabilized the coloring changes to a rich amber color and the figure really stands out.

Now it's time to pack it back up and send it to K&G for stabilizing.
These should be available in the web store in 3 or 4 weeks.
This batch I will be saving a piece for myself.

I love the piece I got for Del's petty sale last mo.. It looks even better in person, not sure what is missing but it certainly is worth it.
