The cost of shipping is largely a function of distance. Obviously, it one lives just down the coast from the source of the wood, it should arrive at less cost than the same piece delivered on the East Coast or in Europe.
For me, the cost of shipping is a minor expense using USPS flat rate shipping.
Typical international customers buy several pieces at a time so cost per item for shipping is pretty low.
Now if I was shipping larger heavier pieces it would get pretty spendy.
