Well, while enjoying a malted beverage tonight, and etching a Gyuto, I decided to do a bright finish ladder pattern. As I was doing my thing, and getting a nice polish, there was some milky swirls I was working on clearing up, but as I got into it, they got more pronounced. What the heck? Ok, finer grit... "Um, hey Pierre, dummy, that looks like a hamon line" so I says to myself, "we'll, I'll be, so it is!"
It's not full length, but it is on both sides, and well balanced, in an arc pattern near the heel, extending forward of where my makers mark would go. Kinda cool, but wasn't expecting it. Early Christmas for someone!
I will try to capture some pictures tomorrow.
