Any German language readers who would like to translate steps 1 - 11 are welcome to do so.

8 'Gepliesst' is a word I have never heard of, unable to find it... The verb Pliessen draws a blank in what dictionaries I tried
 
Pließten means to finely grind or polish, usually on a wooden or leather-covered disk that is impregnated with polishing compound.

You won't find this word used much at all, and most Germans wouldn't know it either. The term was coined in Solingen and specifically refers to this step during knife manufacture.
 
I guessed it had to be something specific to a process, thanks!

I now see how I could not find it....the Ringel S appears a requirement in many places including Wikipedia (German) and I was too lazy to find out how to access it on my keyboard.
 
I only know pliessten because Robert Herder refers to it (blaupliesten).
