    Best Eats - Bay Area

I second this, it's crazy lately. Don't leave ANYTHING in the car, but if you have to make sure it's not visible at all. No sunglasses, power cords, jackets, and above all else no laptops or bags that look like they may hold a laptop. I can't count the number or acquaintances who said "I was...

    Smoking Food (Meat)

I have a Masterbuilt electric smoker. Like others said it's not super powerful or flexible, but super convenient. I use mostly apple wood, but you can get Jack Daniels oak barrel chips from used barrels which are absolutely amazing on ribs and brisket. If you haven't tried them I recommend...

Camillia oil turn yellow when applied to blade

Similar to my bottle, but not the same brand. Maybe there are different levels of refinement so that some oils retain some color.

Camillia oil turn yellow when applied to blade

Oh, I see- I just tried it. My paper towel shows no yellow at all, the oil is clear. I have "tsubaki" oil sourced from Japan, which I'm pretty sure is just camellia oil. Where did you get yours?

Camillia oil turn yellow when applied to blade

It turns yellow when you apply it to the blade, or to paper? (Title says blade, text says paper). I've never seen it turn yellow applied to a blade, and I haven't tried applying it to paper, but I can check to see what happens when I do.

Maybe you need two of these?

I was thinking maybe they sent Broida out to open it up for you.

Maybe you need two of these?

Agreed, I don't think it's intended to be used (thinned, sharpened, etc.) but I guess it could be. If it's your type of art or if you want to use it as a daily cutter (and you're happy to shell out the $89K) who's to argue? Or like I said in the title get one to hang on the wall and the...

Maybe you need two of these?

World's most expensive knife? Pattern welded damascus, doesn't say what the core steel is except "finest carbon" and I'm not too sure about the profile, but if you have $89,000.00 to spare you could give it a try and let us know how it works out :)

Possible alternatives to sujihiki for thinly slicing homemade deli meats

I have a Gesshin Hide 300mm yanagiba that I've used for this, it works fine though not sure if it's BETTER than my suji or gyuto, and I usually reserve it for the traditional application of slicing raw fish.
