Hi. I am looking for a laser gyuto recommendation.

@josemartinlopez care to explain why is a great steel? Sharpenability, edge retention, something else? Also he forges for many "brands" like hitohira, Konosuke, jns, and a long list. What line are you referring to?

Welcome, I've lived in London for the last 20 years also. Seems to be an increase in Brits joining, can be only good.

    Inclusions on stone

Thank you @M1k3 I'll research where I can buy stuff to seal it and probably will come back before applying to see if I have the right idea.

    Inclusions on stone

That sounds good @M1k3, the stone has lacquer on the sides, looks like a thin layer. Is that enough or I should I use something else? I've seen people using some kind of string or textile around.

    Inclusions on stone

Thank you @tgfencer, that gives me a bit of relief. The large line on one side of the stone runs across the middle, the smaller inclusion on the other side I'd say that I can work around it as is close to a corner. I just left home atm, but I'll try the stone tomorrow and check as you advised.

    Inclusions on stone

Hi I have 0 experience with natural stones and went and bought my first one, is an Aoto and when I received it today I noticed sand/ glass particles on the surface of both sides. One side is a big line with more particles than the other side, my question is: Can I still use it? Or is just not...

    First re-handle

I used the gorilla brand 5min epoxy and takes muck longer to dry than the 5min, I removed before was rock solid, But if I was to leave it I would have ended up with that problem for sure.

Thank you for the tip Tim, do you think I can still do it or is not much thickness left to work on? It doesn't bother me much but they are a bit out, good eye.
