    The Knives of Yesteryear

Anyone remember when Don was offloading Doi's what seemed like weekly? Carving turkey with a 330 Hayate Yanagi, all Don's fault...... but I have alot of Keijiro's knives because of him, and one of Keijiros fathers.

    Usuba Saya questions

Hey, i bought a masamoto KK usuba a few months ago, but it didn't come with a saya. Id use it a lot more if it were in the drawer rather than in the stack of boxes. Does anyone know how I can find a saya, or is there an edge guard that will stay on the usuba? Thanks in advance.

Obnoxious dishwasher, what do you do?

Leave a spoon in the oven, drop it in a really annoying spot on his station.

    Media Onion

What like about theory's is he cants the knife with the curve of the onion. I used to scream at the salad monkeys for having the think pieces at the start and stop.

    D. Martell Tip Repairs

This isn't impossible to do with a stone, however you must continuously rock the knife while traversing the stone. I normally use the side of my giant 300 grit stone heh.

    Takeda and the Epoxy Blob!

Solvents will evaporate from the wood, if the wood is finished yes it will harm the finish, it has the same effect on wood as mineral spirits. All you need is a ketone if you want to remove epoxy. Carb cleaner is a readily available ketone. If you were to carefully apply said ketone to the epoxy...

    Takeda and the Epoxy Blob!

I once had a giant mishap with epoxy anchors.. If you use a heat gun to heat the choil / tang area, and liberally spray the epoxy with carb cleaner... It will come off, don't know what carb cleaner will do to KU finishes or the handle though..

    Firstwefeast.com's ramen bucket list

Mari, Evan at your shop tried to point me in the direction of Hidechan, but I couldn't find it, although I'm a little overwhelmed when it comes to NYC, next time I'm there I'll have to have someone walk outside and point me in the direction. Haha.

My abused garden knife gave birth

Can you enlighten us a little more on the history of the knife, or point me in the direction of the post where the buyer found it? I'm curious now.

Global handles - closer to western or wa style handle.

Depends on the global you have, their lower numbered knives have a very thin handle, which is a flatter profile. I would say this is closer to a western handle. The larger numbered knives or the forged series, is much more ovular and closer to a wa.
