    SOLD Two Aizus for sale.

I rarely use these Aizus so it's better if they find a new home. Not much to tell about them, just typical Aizus. Both are in the 4-6k range and produce a toothy edge with plenty of bite. The top one is a little bit softer but not much and it also has loads of renge in it. The bottom one seems a...

Are These Naniwa Nagura Stones Any Good?

I have a Naniwa 8k nagura and I use it all the time with my Sigma 6k stone. Great stuff for making a slurry and speading up the sharpening process.

    SOLD Wonderful Aiiwatani. *Price drop*

Not really using this stone so it can go. It's medium hard and releases a slurry quite easily so it's an easy stone to work with. It finishes in the 8-10k range and puts a a beautiful finish on anything you throw at it. The edge still has some bite though so it's not just an exceptional...

Easy way to seal a handle.

Of course I can link it. But be aware Wilsor is a Dutch company and as far as I know they don't export to other countries. https://www.wilsor.nl/product/houtverzegeling/

Easy way to seal a handle.

Water and sweat. That's pretty much it. Yes, it needs to cure a few hours like any epoxy. The reason I used this set from Wilsor is because I'm a shipwright and I work on a shipyard. We always have a few sets of these at work in the wood shop and my employer gave me this one.

Easy way to seal a handle.

Wilsor has this great epoxy based wood sealer that's literally as thin as water. A set costs €11 (it's two component) and I just poured it in an old glass en let the handle sit in it for an hour. Because it's as thin as water the wood doesn't stop absorbing until it's fully saturated...

My first ever santoku provided by osakajoe. He's been a pleasure to deal with. This is from Tower Knives' recently developed house brand. The core is aogami super wrapped in stainless steeI. I suspected a santoku would be a good fit and indeed it is. I love everything about it, the length...

    J-Nat Club

New aizu loaded with black renge. The performance and finish is pretty much identical to my other aizu but this one feels nicer on my chisels. This one is going with me to work (for my chisels) and the other stays at home for my knives.

My first Japanese knife. A while ago I asked for advice on the forum for my first gyuto and I quickly decided on the Tojiro DP. Went to order it, paypal acted up and wouldn't let me pay, forgot about it and went with the Takamura R2 a few weeks later. I love everything about it. The length, how...

New import rules in European Union

Not too long ago a forum member bought a tataki nomi for me. He marked it as a gift and declared a value of 4000 JPY and sent it with DHL. DHL didn't charge me anything extra in VAT or handling costs. I've also had several chisels from Yahoo Auctions that were sent with Japan Post and passed to...

After more than 15 years I need to replace my Sabatier chef's knife. Need some advice.

Did you not read what I said? I'm getting into softer steel now as well. And why would I thin it when there's so little left of the blade?
