    Acceptable pull-through sharpener?

Stayed at an airbnb last autumn and they had a wooden knife block where the larger knife slots had 2 tiny ceramic rods embedded at the bottom in a 'v' so that when the knife was pulled out, it was sharpened a little. The 2 knives in those slots were actually fairly sharp, which I suspect is...

Thanks. I'm trying to muddle through Lie groups so I can recognize some of the terminology of the paper but not the significance of Nielsen equivalence. I was going to guess it was something mathematical, though. :)

I also joined because I like the fact that people are using and caring for their knives and helping us noobies to learn how to do the same. I hope the forum can hold onto that. Would it make sense to have a category for something that essentially means "knives as investments"? That way when...

Been using (very) cheap knives for years, looking for a major Japanese upgrade - advice please!

I'm in the same boat, home use and not a professional chef but I do like to cook. I don't know as much as most of the people who are replying here so take this with a grain of salt, but since you said you are in the UK you might want to look at Blenheim Forge. Small makers of Japanese style...

This is my first post after New Member Check-in. Been lurking for a few months and learning a lot from this great resource of knife and food knowledge. Anyway, this is my new knife. I know the image quality is not up to those I see in this thread. Just took this with my phone. Blenheim...
