    That is seriously great looking.

    Please explain how VAT works.

It's essentially a sales tax. If you are outside of the jurisdiction that levies the VAT, you don't pay it. Generally speaking, of course.

In Medieval Europe, No Outfit Was Complete Without a Personal Eating Knife

Any knife could be. But so could a screwdriver, or any number of other hand tools. I've carried a knife in my right front pocket since I was 7 years old or so, and will for the rest of my days.

In Medieval Europe, No Outfit Was Complete Without a Personal Eating Knife

I love swords. But they are kind of cumbersome for daily carry, especially in this day and age. A sharp, real, sword in the hands of someone trained in its use, is a fearsome weapon indeed. It's really too bad that they are out of vogue.

    Paring knives?

My favorite paring is still a Kai Tan Ren 4" parer. Sharpens easily, stays sharp, and just handles beautifully.

In Medieval Europe, No Outfit Was Complete Without a Personal Eating Knife

My EDC loadout consists of a Kershaw 4" folder, Leatherman Raptor folding scissors, Eagletac TX25 light, Glock 19, one spare battery for the light, and one spare mag for the Glock. I feel naked with anything less.

Yaxell Ran chef knife 8 inch #36000 review

IMO, if you're gonna buy a Yaxell VG-10 core knife, buy either a Zen or Tsuchimon. The fit and finish is just as good as the Ran line, for about 1/2 the $, you just get fewer layers. Yaxell's heat treat on VG-10 is as good as it gets. My sharpest VG-10 knives are Yaxell. If you like carbon...

    All sharpened up and repaired

Here is my $12 gun show find. A 7" deba that had seen better days. After spending about 3 hours and wearing a big groove into a 180 grit Norton stone, it cleaned up. Another hour across Bester/ Beston 500 grit/1200 grit stones and polished with a a 5000 grit Suehiro Rika and a leather strop...
