    WTS Masakage Koishi AS 240

That just requires some sandpaper in the right grits and some elbow grease. It doesn't really affect the performance of the knife. Well, not by much. Different amounts of polish have different effects on different kinds of food, but in general the differences aren't too big. For this reason...

SOLD 240 Yoshikane SKD Nashiji Gyuto K&S Amekiri

I think you should be able to edit the thread label yourself. Once you’ve changed that to “SOLD”, it should be obvious to everyone else that this thread is basically closed.

    Which nano hone?

A question related to the Nano Hones, the stated dimensions are 210 x 75 x 15 mm, but is that including the base plate? As in, the base plate is 210 × 75 mm. and the stone itself is slightly smaller than this?

Knifewear.com, based in Canada, also sells them. They currently don't have any gyutos in stock though.

    Thinning Question

Ah, and since you're not putting the edge of the blade to the stone, you're not very likely to cut into the stone this way.

    Withdrawn Konosuke HD2 240

I just bought Vladimir's Mazaki, otherwise this would be really tempting. Yeah, those two are near opposites with this being a laser and the Mazaki being much heftier, but I'll have to learn what my preferences are in some way. Anyway, GLWS.

Nice. Though, when I saw the small thumbnail image, I thought you'd taken a picture of your knife placed next to a rock. Which was confusing. Now I'm hungry...

"Mazaki." murmurs the congregation, all holding a knife in their right hand and a whetstone in the other. (Or what would be a preferred "Amen" analogue?)

Well, if this is agreeable to your religious persuasion(s), you can buy an Indulgence off me by sending me one of your knives. ;)

    Sharpening help

The Naniwa stone holder has lower rubber lips which prevents this issue. I've seen it recommended specifically for this reason. Well, and because it's a quality product of course.

    mazaki knives

I emailed them about that two weeks ago. They said that current stock is the lighter colored Ho wood handle. The darker colored handles were from a previous keyaki wood handled batch. They weren't sure what the next shipment will use.

There is a "Watch" function in the top right corner at the start of a thread. If you click that you'll get notifications for new posts even if you haven't posted anything yourself. It's a handy tool in case you like to follow the discussion without really having much to contribute yourself.

Do you know the weight on those? I'm interested in the Mazaki. I do fear that 250 mm is a little too big for me though...
