Within the last month or so, I kind of learned to do this the hard way. I use my sg120 to set geo and it leaves super grabby bevels. Just started to hit it with sg1k real quick and it makes such a difference

After being cleaned up, I used it on a handful of cherry tomatoes...
No worries Matt. Thanks for chiming in. I was just barely dipping my toes into the pool for 2x72 machines when the Grizzly popped up and kind of locked in on it. It's definitely a deep pool when just starting out. I hadn't even heard of OBM or TR Maker.
Much to learn, I have, but that's part of...
That's exactly how I'm going into this. Seems like a better option than 1x30s and will be less hassle than my current 4x36. It will get me into the game at a rather low cost, and if I go deeper down the rabbit hole, I can always add a 2x72 later. All-in-all, it's another tool to add to the shed...
Same here. A recent BST Newham felt weird nor did it excite me when I first held it. After a meal or 2, I love the damn thing. Felt the same way with my RDG, now you'll have to pry it from my hands in my casket.
The only regret I'd have during this scenario is the martini not being bourbon
I'm assuming Shrek's, uh, um, member would be green though.
I was going to 180 that handle, but now I have a different direction. Maybe I'll make both ideas and see what people think would be best, i.e. drive my wife nuts
Honestly, I'd love to make that dream become a reality. I'm almost tempted to try that on one of my projects, just to see how far back my wife's eyes really can roll into her head.
Plans are in motion
It reads that way.
I did read in a few places that 1x30 grinders with variable speed tend to bog down at lower speeds.
I was going to look into that when I eventually order/receive mine. The pattern looks pretty standard.
Thanks for the replies guys.
Right now I've got a Ryobi 4x36, 1/2hp belt/disc sander. It was practically free and has been decent for handles and restoring pretty beat up blades. I'm quite patient and proficient, but it is far from great for bladework though.
I had come across something about...
Just came across this while researching belt sanders, as I'm at that stage of the knife journey. I'm thinking of picking one up, as it looks to be more functional than a 1x30.
Anyone familiar or have experience with this particular model...
Some would say it is less attractive, but I think it looks cool.
He makes his own damascus so it takes a quite a bit more effort to produce and I would assume a higher risk for failure as well
Next in line after Ed gets his!
Currently I have a 240 and an off-set, so a fish spat would get me closer to completing my set.
Now if only I could find a way to get some of those magical steak knives, and then my RDG pokemon collection would be complete. Once complete, the world will be mine...
