On sharpening single bevel knives- Hamaguri and Beta Togi

Hey, Jon, how ya doin? Been a while since I've been around! One goes away for a couple of years and come back and Jon's still patiently teaching single bevel sharpening! The more things change, huh? For those of you who are doing single bevel sharpening for the first time, find Jon's old...

My favorite color is BLUE!.............A patina thread.

Yes. Especially since I sharpen it 99/1. As far as overall blade shape it is leaning on the right hand side. Thing is so thin though that it really is hard to say. Edge bevel is all righty, though. Seriously though, it's one of my favorite and most used blades. My knife...

My favorite color is BLUE!.............A patina thread.

Thanks! Unfortunately, this is one of those places where if you aren't in the market to buy and you continue hanging around, you will be in the market to buy soon. I couldn't afford another knife/stone/handle/etc./etc. so I gave it up for a while. Which brings about a question; the bug is...

FS: Yoshihiro White #2 yanagi 300mm

Up for grabs is a lightly used Yoshihiro White #2 yanagi. The knife was originally purchased from Jon at JKI. I believe that it is the same knife as is currently being sold on his site under his Gesshin Uraku label, although I have not verified that. New, the knife sells for $220. I am asking...

    The next sweetheart?

I like Yoshihiro a lot... but part of why i like them is their value, particularly for the single bevel knives. At that price, you are right in the ball park for a lot of really good knives, including the KS and the Mizuno, as well as a ton of other great knives. Heck, you aren't really that far...
