    A wedding gift.

We have been friends with a couple for over 30 years. Their daughter is getting married this weekend, (I remember holding her in my lap when she was still in diapers), and I made a cutting board as a gift.

Yet another take on making handles.

The linked video is for a shaping jig for making tool handles, but it would be simple to make a few changes to allow you to make several different types of knife handles. This jig does require some woodworking tools to make the simple jig, but all you need is a bandsaw once the jig is made.

"The most comprehensive sharpening test ever done." (Maybe...)

The linked video is from a woodworking site and focuses on chisels and plane blades, but, as a woodworker, I found it interesting and thought some here might also find it interesting too. Spoiler alert - water stones are too messy.

    Bread slicer

A friend asked if I could make a bread slicer for him and I said yes. He chose cherry to match his cabinets, and I made it as wide as I could for his 10" bread knife. The bread stop adjusts so he can make slices anywhere from ~ 1/4" to ~ 1 1/8". (I offset the pins in the bread stop by 1/8" to...

    Just finished another cutting board.

I only make 4 or 5 a year between larger projects, but I enjoy making them a lot. This one is made from ambrosia maple and consists of a bunch of bookmatched panels. This one was especially hard because of the holes the Ambrosia Beetle drills through the wood. However, the beetles also cause...

this looks interesting. The grinder uses pods that can be filled with whatever spice you want to grind. Just switch pods to grind something different. FinaMill Grinder Pepper Mill and Spice Grinder

    Pocket knife help

I just did it for the second time - I forgot to leave my pocket knife at home and the TSA said thank you very much for another knife. So I need another knife now and am looking for a thin knife, (hopefully less that 1/2" from the outside of one scale to the outside of the other scale)...

What's the fastest a knife has sold here?

I think this belongs in B&S, (not BS), but a prefix is required there, and none applied to my question... I noticed a Shig sold in 5 minutes today, and that got me to wondering what's the fastest sale here? Anyone know?

    Christmas presents for our Son.

Some of you may remember that I made a for our Son's birthday earlier this year. I had planned to make a knife rack and a napkin holder as well, but ran out of time. So, I made the rack and holder for Christmas. I used the same woods, but did not try to match the pattern, and I did sneak in...

    I made a bridge.

This is for the shop where I will be sharpening chisels, plane blades, and whatever else I can. It fits the Rubbermaid 1/2 size tray I picked up at a local restaurant supply. The bridge is made from scraps of white oak and bubinga and there is a brace on the bottom to keep the whole thing from...

    Cutting board for our son

I made a cutting board for our son's birthday. He's in TX and we are in VA, so I had to ship it. It should arrive tomorrow. It's an end grain board and the woods are walnut, maple and bubinga. Anyway, it was a fun project.
