WTS Super fast ohira renge/momiji suita

Putting this up quick so i dont forget, busy day lol. I'll shoot some scratch pattern pics later. Great stone, very very fast, a bit finer than something like maruoyama shiro suita but definitely in that same range. Feedback is chalky and firm, gets super smooth when mud builds up, very...

lolol honestly most of the guys grinding the garbage in japan deserve to go out of business. It's pretty crazy to see the sort of impact kaiju ground knives have had on people since their release. I get it though, nothing comes close if you appreciate attention to detail. I'm actually working...

Which stones can be flattened with Atoma 400?

Not necessarily better, it changes how the stone will interact with the knife, here's an example; One of the things I like to do is put 80 grit diamond scratches on a naniwa super 3k and rinse+ rub all the mud off with running water, leave a good pool of fresh water on the face, then use it to...

Which stones can be flattened with Atoma 400?

all of my naturals get this treatment Synthetics can benefit from coarse flattening stones because deep grooves left by something like a new 140 on the surface of the synth can significantly change how it'll interact with the knife but that's something you gotta experiment with to really get it.

Oh mine is also most definitely finer, it just leaves a more coarse appearing scratch pattern on iron. Soft kyoto stones that cut like that are typically rare gems, maruo being the exception. The scratch depth is shallow but the wide streaks are indicative of abrasive clusters cutting wider...

They can be pretty coarse haha. Mine leaves a finish retty similar to aizu on iron but it fogs up core steel beautifully. Fantastic stone, i actually prefer coarser ones cause they make my progression work faster.

Of your 4 midgrits, sell the 3 you like the least and buy a maruoyama shiro suita. Perfect for erasing midgrit scratches and fine enough to jump right to a finisher. You'll save both time and money this way. People way overestimate how many stones they need for decent work on clad knives. You...

Aizu, tajima, numata and natsuya will roughly do the same thing; erasing synthetic scratches to facilitate a transition to natural stones. You need to think less in terms of grit numbers with jnats and more in terms of what will erase scratches from the previous stone while allowing you to...
