    Stainless Clad white #2 at 63-64 hrc. Only been sharpened twice. Has a good heat treat and temper and not chippy. Has been through cryo temper cycles.     It won’t stay forever, tends to build colors onto the etched finish. If you end up messing it up you can always order some FeCl concentrate or powder.

    Yeah that handle came out great! Joe did a really good job on that thing, it’s worth good $$$ too as bog oak and buffalo horn are both more expensive material choices

    yeah man it was so uneven! I was so surprised as I have heard so highly of jikko... not going to lie it was a good bit of work.

    I did the thinning and polishing. It’s relatively neutral, I’d say it’s pretty close to 50/50. I couldn’t get it perfect without removing too much material. Polished it up to 3000 grit and an etch to try and make the hamone pop. The knife preforms so much better then it was originally.

    If you want that real pop and contrast of the layers with a decent profound relief you need to use muriatic acid.... really nasty stuff and can’t be used indoors and vapors will corrode many materials but it works if everything is taped up that you don’t want touched

    I hand sanded it a while back to roughly 15000 grit and it took quite a while, also the grinds needs to be smoothed out a bit and brought farther up the knife to eliminate wedging so I knocked that out at the same time.
