    Coarse synthetic stones in 2023

I've bought 4 debado 180 and can not believe the variation stone to stone. One very hard, two very soft. One is very very good. Not too much glazing, manageable dishing. Nice even scratch patter that is easy to progress from. Unfortunately I'm sharpening all day every day, so the one stone I...

    Mutsumi Hinoura Aogami Super Opinions?

I like it. Sharpens well and holds an edge for a long time. It does feel a little brittle to me though, and some of the damaged blades I have received seems to validate that impression. I remember getting one in for sharpening from a pro chef who was surprised by the chipping - he had a lot of...

    Dogs of KKF

Our sweet pooch, Daisy. She approached a group of construction guys down in TN, nothing but skin and bones and missing most her fur. One of the guys managed to get her into his truck and to a vet. They found out she was pregnant but it had to be aborted because she was so young and was in...

Daily Knife Pics. Any Knife. Join In!

Was able to snag a manix 2 from the Spyderco/BBB sprint run of CPM 15v knives. It's very nice, came with an excellent edge from the factory and the build quality is quite high. Looking forward to seeing how the steel wears and works in everyday use. So far my impression is that I would very...

    Iida-tool (http://www.japantool-iida.com/) is a scam site?

Wow, what a bummer. Had one transaction "back in the day" before I had joined here and everything was fine, but I do remember not loving the overall experience as the knife took far too long to be delivered, and communication was spotty at best.

How much bite advantage does Aogami Super offer over Shirogami?

Get the AS over the white #1. In my experience, both as an ex pro cook and now as a pro sharpener, the AS will retain a toothy edge well suited to tomatoes/peppers far far longer than the white steel. I have 5 TF in my personal collection. 3 in white steel (2 maboroshi 1 nashiji), 2 Denka. In...

Very tasty knife. Shocked it hasn't sold - OP is giving it away at this price.

    Tormek T1 Sharpening

If I sharpened TONS of chisels or planes I could see one being worth while. But I think they are expensive and slow. Trying to fix major damage on a knife with one will take a lifetime. For knives specifically I think a turntable style rotating whetstone is the way to go.

Show your work! Uchigumori and co...

Pretty sure I finished this one on the 4k (really an awesome stone). I can't remember 100%, but that finish doesn't look like I went any higher. They are niche stones, but wonderful.

SOLD TF Denka 240mm Western - Price Drop x3

This looks like a very nice example of a denka. I have no need for this knife (my 275mm is king) but am still very tempted. Someone snatch this up, it's a great score.
