    Favorite Dutch Oven Size?

I have the 5.5qt and I would like it to be a little larger. I would say that you would not be upset going with a 7 or a 9. The wider base will let you brown more stuff in a single layer

Different method of detecting the apex

q tip is a good idea, I never thought of that

Different method of detecting the apex

For the past 6 months or so I have moved away from trying to feel the burr by sliding my thumb vertically down the blade. I assume most people do this and I did for a long time. I am able to feel a burr like this if I raise a large enough burr and it works pretty well. Recently though I have...

    Great Eastern Cutlery

A lot of the above 300 secondary market knives don't seem to sell all that well. I think the best way to enjoy knives are to buy knives that have seen some use, use em for as long as you want and sell reasonably. KKF BST has a lot of that going on. Hasn't quite hit GEC yet.

    Great Eastern Cutlery

I've noticed that too. I think pocket knife people care less about cutting performance over time and thinning would have to be done so rarely. How sharp a pocket knife needs to be is way different for me.I feel the need to touch up a gyuto when it starts struggling on a tomato. It's still damn...

    Great Eastern Cutlery

I agree that the prices are not bad retail. Some of the secondary market prices are insane. I've been sticking to secondary market right after a release before they shoot up to the stratosphere. Also carbon pocket knives are cool but its nice to be able to carry a knife in the wet. Also the...

    Great Eastern Cutlery

Yea they are a pain to get ahold of but I do love chasing a rare knife. It does make me appreciate how KKF BST typically prices knives below retail vs. above (for the most part).

    Great Eastern Cutlery

Just recently got into Great Eastern Cutlery pocket knives. Anyone else collect or use them? Didn't think I'd be into old timey slip joints but here we are. Here's some recent pickups #15 #21

    Stropping Compound

I've used green compound, and a variety of different diamond pastes as strop compound. The diamond compounds all work pretty well but for ease of use and effectiveness I like the tech diamond .5 micron spray on my rough strop. Good at burr removal and I touch up both carbon and 'supersteels'...
