I’m in need of funds and am looking to find new homes for these two.
SUIEN VC CHINESE CLEAVER
Purchased from JKI. I asked Jon to reprofile it and remove the factory sandblasting. They did a great job on reprofiling and thinning. You can see a video of the process here.
I think it’s a great knife for the money. The Mono Blue #2 performs excellently, with good heat treatment, edge retention, and a beautiful patina. I’ve used it for some time at both home and work for testing. However, I find the size a bit large for my taste, so I’m going to let it go.
It has never been sharpened and still retains the original JKI edge. I’ve only touched it up with a Soft Ark or BBW to revive the edge.
Paid $350, asking for $300 shipped CONUS / SOLD

IKENAMI HONNE-OTOSHI BONE CLEAVER
Purchased this little beast from Knife Japan.
It's an interesting knife, though I don’t have much to say. It’s small but heavy, making breaking down chicken quite enjoyable. Its smaller size makes it nimble enough for detailed work. If you need something like Thor’s hammer in a pocket-sized form, this knife is for you.
Michael was kind enough to share some information about Tanegashima Island, where the Honne-Otoshi was forged. I’m including that information along with a $10 discount code for your next purchase from Knife Japan.
Paid $218, asking for $175 $125 shipped CONUS / SOLD
