For those new to KKF, this is an annual gathering of old and new KKF friends/ acquaintances, local home/ pro cooks, knifemakers and other craftsmen. There are lots of knives fawn over. And we have a group effort on food and drinks, so we all eat and drink well.
The last couple of years we have had 6+ knife makers in attendance including Butch Harner, Henry Hyde, Jovian Forge (Andrew), Tony Laseur, Ben Zimmerman and Britton Steele. some years District Cutlery has attended. And we usually have a group from Philly, as well as people from NJ, Richmond and Baltimore. And some attendees have flown in from Canada, the mid-west and the west coast.
The event is at my house in Alexandria (northern Virginia).
The event is indoor, so no problems with weather. There are gas and charcoal grills outside, and ovens/ stove inside for those who want to cook or reheat food here.
We encourage attendees to bring some food to share.
We are spouse/ SO-friendly. We've had kids here ((including my own) but they tend to get bored -- they can sit on a sofa and play on their tablets..
I have contact info for most past attendees. If you have not been here before and would like to attend please PM me your name and an email address and I will send you out additional information prior to the event (including the address).
And there will likely be a dinner the night before. We've been to Zaytinya a few times in the past, China Chilcano and Jaleo for chefs experience-format meals
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
