Before I get started, yes this is real.

it’s time for me to pay some hefty bills, never really thought I would have to let this one go.
The knife needs a good natural stone finish to make the Hamon pop, don’t currently have the time between two jobs. By far the sharpest knife with best cutting potential for me. This knife has been used a handful of times and sharpened twice. I have never seen one like this as well, I’ve been told the kanji was done by the father. Very beautifully done custom handle, cannot remember the name of wood. 2700$

49 height and I can’t currently weigh this right now.

What an amazing blade, only see these come up once or twice a year it seems. Looks Koa or Taz Blackwood, maybe a musk ox spacer, hard to say. GLWS

Received the knife on march 17th and contacted Brady thru PM without reply....
This is the only bad experience i have had with KKF members, and cant understand why someone would do this....first it was shipped internacionally wrapped in a tshrit (yeap!)...the knife was barely wrapped, the box...:/
Onto to the knife...:(
It was all rusted when it got to me, corrosion pitting all over the blade...very sad. Also the knife is far from been “used a handful of times”...the sharpening/polish attempt is off....
Tried to contact and get an answer/possible explanation from Brady on private, but since no reply, let this be a warning for others....

Those are pretty deep areas of corrosion (definitely not evident in the sellers pics), unlikely to be removed even with sanding. I had a similar experience with a KKF buy, a feather Damascus blade with corrosion. It cracked the first time I sharpened the knife. The seller completely ghosted me. May also be worth opening a not as described case with PayPal - before you attempt any repairs . I feel your pain !

I’m sorry to see this Joao, I know how you package and handle knives and I’m sure this was a huge disappointment for one of the hardest knives to get, period! Hopefully Brady reaches out and some kind of agreement can be had to try and right the situation.

Wow, this is jacked up!!

$2700 knife wrapped for international transit in a T-shirt? And the gaps in the photos vs actuals.
Thank you for sharing this, I'm sorry for what you went through.
I would reach out to Paypal.

Why did it take 6 weeks to arrive? The knife box seems to show some water damage which would explain the corrosion. How did the outer box look? Jon @ JKI might be able to fix it. Send him the pics and get an opinion. Good luck

Wow! You have my condolences. Very poor packing and condition of the knife! I would definitely take this up with Paypal as its far gone from being salvageable.

Well, all I can say what had been said already - it appears that the knife has been packed poorly and rusted. The fairly long shipping time is an indicator here - that was plenty of time for nasty stuff to happen.

What surprises me is to see pitting, but no surface rust. I had a Japanese knife rusted on my in my workshop (just a too humid and cold environment, no direct water on the knife) and it was covered with surface rust with no pitting - this looks just opposite. Or did you clean the knife before taking photos?

The seller has not been online since 11th of March, but he does not seem to be posting all whole a lot, so avoiding you may not necessarily have to be his intention. Starting a PayPal dispute is probably the only thing you can do.

Sorry @Joao lourenco for your experience. A knife of this value should always be expedited imo. No reason to risk it. Such a shame.
Also this ‘barely used’ ‘bnib only used to make pico de gallo’ **** has to stop.

Is it just me or does it look like the finish is different then in OP? Like someone tried to sand it out?

Yeah. But this knife was embroiled in deception before it even hit the block, behind the scenes. 2700 is no small matter. I’d be asking for fingerprints and provenance docs. Live FaceTime chats and closeups.

I had no idea the values of these had climbed to this level. Is it specifically the Blue #2, or any of these 240mm Konosuke Honyaki?

Not trying to derail the thread, but I was just wondering.

Both of the old batch of Konosuke Honyaki gyutos are expensive

Wide Bevel Blue 2 Konosuke honyakis were made by Kenichi Shiraki. You don'see many wide bevel honyaki gyutos around

The white 2 Konosuke honyaki gyuto are basically rebadged Ashi Honyaki gyutos which needs no introduction

Not to be a dik here, but I thought the original OP pics already looked really bad. That knife clearly had plenty of use and abuse prior to shipping. I’m kind of surprised no one has mentioned that yet.
I thought the same thing but I'm not a resident expert on honyakis.

BST rules eh, every knife looks amazing (e.g. post #5) and if everyone hadn’t just bought somethings else they would have totally bought this ;)
