I'm selling this 240mm Gesshin Kagero wa-gyuto, with a custom coolibah, mammoth tooth, and brass handle made and installed by JoBone. I'm the original owner of this knife, I've used it moderately in a home environment for the past few years, and it's been sharpened once or twice. It comes with its original ho wood saya. Between the knife and the handle, I've spent more than $450 all in on this one. I'm offering it for $230 USD including shipping within the US. I'm happy to ship internationally if we split shipping fees.
A couple flaws to note with this one: first, there are a fair number of cosmetic scratches along the blade, especially around the handle, as you should be able to see in the attached photos. Second, at one point I chipped a mm or two off the tip, so the tip's been refinished. Third, the handle install is a bit crooked, which you should be able to see in the choil shot.
This is a great all-around light midweight knife, with a nice and thin convex grind, and super thin behind the edge and at the tip. The chamfered choil is very comfortable. I'm just having that itch to try new things, and I also have a similar Ikazuchi, so selling this to fund those new purchases.
I've misplaced my calipers, so I'm just going to list the height, length and thickness specs provided by JKI:
Spine thickness: ~2.89mm at handle, tapering down into a very thin tip
Height: ~48mm at heel
Edge Length: ~243mm
Weight: 188 grams
Handle: Octagonal coolibah with mammoth tooth and brass spacers
Steel: Stainless-clad stainless powdered steel
I'm selling a few other knives right now as well, and if you buy 2 or more, I'll knock off $25 for each knife bundled.
Of course, let me know if you have any questions, or would like to see additional pictures.
