Aizu shigenobu kanna

$45 shipped

I bought it for $120

218 g
70mm wide
75mm long
6-8mm thick
30mm steel height
Wrought and unknown steel

Took quite awhile to find a relatively affordable one. A famed Kanna smith in Japan, and dead of course. I read that a saw smith from Aizu went to Sanjo and that's how Sanjo blacksmithing got it's start. So Aizu was kind of Sanjo before Sanjo.

Anyhow the steel is pretty good but not superlative like what the hype in Japan may hold it up to. Feels like Kochi V2 if it were harder and finer and glassier, but similar. Or like hide blue 1

Came warped on the ura and dull so I did uradashi and sharpened out most of the hammer marks. Ura makes contact along the cutting edge now except at the very ends
